The National Occupational Classification (NOC) matrix provides an overview of the entire NOC classification structure. It illustrates the relationship between broad occupational categories (BOC) and skill levels, which results in the 40 NOC major groups (first two digits of the NOC code) and helps quickly identify NOC major and minor groups.
BOCs (except Management – BOC 0) are displayed in rows and are represented by numbers zero (0) to nine (9) while the skill levels are displayed in columns and are identified by letters A to D.
Managerial occupations (BOC 0), which are considered as skill level A occupations, are found on the left-end side of the chart, indicating the presence of management across all segments of the labour market.
The matrix presents the entire National Occupational Classification structure in a table.
